A women's exhibition will take place next month that will be opened by Princess Al-Anoud bint Abdullah, wife of Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal. Proceeds from the event will benefit cancer patients in Makkah province.
About 100 companies and 50 families engaged in small-scale industries are expected to take part in the exhibition at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Events Center May 17-21.
The organizers expect at least 20,000 women will visit the show, which is being held for the second time.
The exhibition is likely to find hundreds of jobs for qualified Saudi women in various companies, banks and industries.
Al-Jowhara Al-Anqari, chairperson of Al-Iman Society for Charitable Services and for the Care of Cancer Patients, said the exhibition was aimed at supporting various efforts in the region.
“Al-Iman society aims at providing medical care and social support to cancer patients and reduce their pains and sufferings,” she said. “We’ll also provide necessary support to the patients’ families.”
Maya Halfawi, one of the organizers, said the exhibition was aimed at developing economic, cultural and social capabilities of Saudi women and set out joint programs for their total development.
“It will contribute to activating women’s economic role and increasing their contributions to small and medium enterprises,” Halfawi said.
